NEPAL AND BHUTAN INCENTIVE PROGRAMME

Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu

After clearing the custom and immigration formalities, proceed towards the arrival lounge of the airport where you will be met and garlanded with flower garlands made of fresh Marigolds and a “Welcome” banner will be displayed.

Later, transfer to hotel in deluxe air conditioned coach.

Arrive at Hotel Hyatt Regency to a ‘Newari Welcome’ where, traditionally dressed girls ‘Panch Kanyas’ will perform the `Tikka’ ceremony (the foreheads of the guests will be anointed) while musicians will be playing in the background. Welcome Drinks will be served while the room keys are distributed in specially designed key pouches.
Lunch at the Café of the hotel.
Afternoon : Sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the Durbar Square - the complex of palaces, courtyards and temples, built between the 12th and 18th centuries; Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal residential quarter, Mahadev and Parvati temples, Machhender Bahl - holy place for Buddhists and Hindus, Temple House of Kumari - the vestal virgin or the living goddess.
Evening leave from Durbar Square for the busy streets of Thamel, on Cycle Rickshaws for a welcome dinner organized at Rum Doodle Restaurant.
The Rum Doodle Restaurant, famous for its association with all the Everest Summiteers. Cocktails and Dinner at this delectable watering hole.
After dinner, return to the hotel on Cycle Rickshaws.
Overnight at Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu.

Day 02 : Kathmandu - Paro (Bhutan)

Morning, transfer to the airport to board the flight for Paro. Leave Kathmandu for Paro by Druk Airways flight.
Special Reception at the airport where guests will be traditionally garlanded and a “Welcome” banner displaying your company logo. After the special visa formalities, you will be transferred to the Kichu Resort.
The country’s only airport is in Paro, making it the first and last place most visitors see in Bhutan. Outside town the landscape is beautiful with streams trickling through the countryside: perfect walking country. A gentle stroll heads across a wooden bridge across the river to the fortressed monastery of Paro Dzong, while another walk follows the prayer flags through the forest to the Taktsang Monastery, known as the Tiger’s Nest, that clings to a rock above the valley.

Day 03 : Paro

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning: Hike to Taktsang Monastery, literally meaning “Tiger’s Nest”, built around the cave in which the Guru Rimpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) - and later his follower Dubthok Singye – meditated. The monastery clings, to a rock face or cliff 3,000 ft above the valley floor. A visit to this monastery is a challenge and a pilgrimage; exhausting, thrilling and profoundly mystical. Return to the base and visit the Drugyel Dzong - now in ruins, which was built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate victory over the Tibetan invaders in1644.
The ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, (burnt down in fire in1951), at the outskirts of Paro district, speaks of the past and provides a view of the Jomolhari peak- 24000 ft- which forms the border with Tibet.
At this deserted Dzong we shall organize a picnic lunch.
Afternoon: After a short rest at the hotel, return to the town where we participate in a fascinating Archery Competition, Bhutan’s National Sport.
Evening: Dinner at the resort.

Day 04 : Paro – Thimphu – Paro

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning: Proceed on an excursion to Thimphu, capital of Bhutan. This drive is through the Paro and Thimpu valleys.
Enroute visit the Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of its kind which once guarded the Thimpu valley, built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1627.
This old Dzong now houses the Dzongkha language and Religious University.
On the drive to Thimphu, you can also see the Three Chortens of Chhuzom, located on the Confluence of the two rivers, the Paro Chhu and the Thimphu Chhu.
Because Bhutanese traditions regards such a joining of rivers as inauspicious, there are three chortens here to ward away the evil spells of the area. Each chorten is in a different style - Bhutanese, Tibetan and Nepali.
Continue later on the tour visiting the Handicrafts Emporium, with its wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products and the Thimphu bazaar.
If permission is granted, visit the Thimphu Tashichhodzong which has more than 100 rooms and houses the Government Departments (including the main Secretariat building, all the Ministries, the National Assembly Hall, the Office and the Throne Room of the King).
Lunch will be organized at the River View hotel. Later, drive back to Paro.
Special Gala Dinner in the decorated lobby or porch of the resort.

Day 05 : Paro

Breakfast at the resort.

Morning: Depart in separate Coaches to the quaint little hamlet of Shaba in Paro. the local Shaba Lower Secondary School. Visit the local Shaba Lower Secondary School and interact with he children.
Later, visit a farmhouse to see how the local people live. See how livestock are kept in the houses and the way in which locals cultivate their fields. Share a cup of butter tea with the family.
Arrive at the Eto Gompa located on the hill above Shaba and participate in the specially arranged local festivities (Mask Dances) and the monastery prayers which include chanting with illuminated butter lamps.
Later: Visit the museum at Ta-Dzong, a watch tower which played an active part in the defence of the main Rimpung Dzong, the main fortress and monastery of Paro.
Rest of the afternoon free to shop in the local market.
Evening: Dinner will be organized at Gangtey Palace. This 100 year old palace-style building is one of the most charming hotels in town.

Day 06 : Paro – Kathmandu (Nepal)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning, transfer to the airport to board the flight for Kathmandu. Assistance on arrival at Kathmandu airport and drive to Patan.
Lunch will be organized at Patan Museum restaurant.
Post lunch, in the central square of Patan, the ‘city of the fine arts’, visit the Mahaboudha Temple, in whose terra-cotta face are carved 9000 images of Lords Buddha.

Later visit Swayambhunath, the splendid Buddhist Stupa set high on a hill overlooking the valley, said to be 2500 years old. From every face of its distinctive gilded spire, the ‘all-seeing eyes’ of Lord Buddha, gaze out on the world.
Return to the hotel by the evening. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 07 : Kathmandu

Breakfast at the hotel.

Leave the Kathmandu Valley by coach driving along the Trisuli river for about 2 hours to the start of the rafting point. Rafting down the Trisuli is an exhilarating experience - some stretches done at a leisurely float and others negotiating exciting rapids. (The actual rafting, riding easy rapids, will be between 2 – 2½ hrs).
Lunch will be served at Riverside Resort. Later return back to Kathmandu. Rest of the day at leisure for independent activities.
Evening: Dinner at Babar Mahal Revisited. The Baber Mahal Revisited is actually a small part of the bigger Babar Mahal, or palace that belonged to Babar Shumsher Rana.
This is a fine classic example of how old buildings can be restored to their original glory.
Overnight in Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu.

Day 08 : Kathmandu

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning your guided tour will take you for a visit of the Hindu cultural icon in Nepal, Pashupatinath. This is the place where holy saddhus pray and cremations on the Bagmati River are carried out. While you are not allowed into the temple if you are not a Hindu, the grounds surrounding the temple usually have a fascinating crowd of the faithful.
Later visit Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur, located at an elevation of 1402 m, is a medieval town popular for many fine examples of sculpture, woodcarving and colossal pagoda temples consecrated to different gods and goddesses. Major places to visit are: Durbar Square- The National Art gallery- Golden Gate- Fifty-Five Windowed Palace- Siddha Pukhu- Dattatraya Temple- Nyatapola Temple & Potter's Square.

Lunch at Café Nayatapolo or Layaku Restaurant.
Afternoon: A walking tour to Boudhanath Stupa ( 15 mins ) the holiest shrine for the Buddhist culture in Nepal, 2500 years old and said to be the biggest of its kind. Evening: Farewell Dinner will be organized at Krishnarpan, at the Dwarika’s Resort, famous for its special Nepalese cuisine.
The magnificence of Dwarika's is its Newar style buildings of intricately carved wood and terracotta work that must have taken 10 million hours of the best craftsmen in Nepal. No wonder it has been bestowed the prestigious Heritage award.

Return to the hotel after dinner.

Day 09 : Depart Kathmandu

Breakfast at the hotel.
Later departure transfer to Kathmandu International airport to board your flight back home.
