Day 1 :  Arrive Airport – Negombo (Approx. 30 mins)

Negombo's beach is very wide in places and also the heartland of Christian Sri Lanka, as borne out by the enormous churches and florid wayside catholic shrines scattered about the town and its environs. The Dutch made the town an important commercial centre, building a canal, on which spices, particularly cinnamon, which grew profusely in the surrounding areas-where transported from the interior to the coast prior to being shipped abroad.

Negombo
Explore the small fishing village of Negombo by Tuk Tuk, a very typical vehicle in Asia. During the tour, you may cover Fish Market which is the second largest fish market in Sri Lanka, Dutch Fort which has a fine gateway inscribed with the date 1678, Angurukaaramulla Temple with its 6m-long reclining Buddha, St. Mary’s Church with thunderous ceiling paintings covering the nave and many more attractions by the roads.

Day 3 : Negombo– Anuradhapura (Approx. 4 hrs drive)

Safari at Wilpattu National Park
Half Day Game drive to Wilpattu National Park is a 3 hours game viewing opportunity with Beyond Escapes Safari Team. Wilpattu is the largest and one of the oldest National Parks in Sri Lanka. Which is among the top national parks world-renowned for its leopard population. A safari in Wilpattu is very different from any of the other major national parks. The unique feature of this park is the existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) that gives Wilpattu a genuine wilderness feeling. Sloth bears, spotted deer, wild pigs, and crocodiles are frequent sightings. We provide light refreshments and water bottles during the safari.

Day 4 :  Anuradhapura

Ancient City of Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura is the first kingdom of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sri Lankan civilization. The city houses the oldest historically documented tree on earth, grown from a branch of the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment 2500 years ago. It was also the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The relic chambers like Ruwanveliseya, Abhayagiriya and Jetavanaramaya, stand as the largest manmade brick structures in the world. Th Brazen Palace, Twin Ponds, Samadhi Buddha Statue, Isurumuniya temple with finest rock carvings in the country, The Moonstone, The Guard stones and Thuparama and Lankaramaya Dagobas are the other important attractions that you cover during this city tour.

Mihintale
In the 3rd century BC, area of Mihintale was a thick jungle inhabited by wild animals and was a hunting ground reserved for the royals. This is the place where Mahinda Maha Thero, the son of the Indian Emperor Asoka, met king Devamnampiyatissa in 250 BC which resulted in inauguration of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. Today it is the main center for Theravada Buddhism and the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

Day 5 : Anuradhapura- Polonnaruwa-Dambulla/ Sigiriya (Approx. 3.5 hrs drive)

Cycling Tour in Polonnaruwa
Take a cycling tour of one of the better kept ruins of ancient Ceylon - the UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. You will be cycling about 10km on soft surfaces as you whizz between the ruins. The ancient heart of Sri Lanka. An important royal capital with its well-preserved 12th century ruins & impressive stone culture recalls an inspired past. Although nearly 1000 years old, it is much younger than Anuradhapura and generally in better repair. The monuments are arranged in a reasonably compact garden setting and their development is easier to follow.

Day 6 : Dambulla/ Sigiriya- Polonnaruwa- Dambulla/ Sigiriya

Sigiriya Rock Fortress
In the 5th century, King Kashyapa domesticated the Lions Rock, by building a palace atop its summit & well designed for its defenses by having ramparts and moats built around it. The Rock itself has its unique identity due to its shape not found anywhere else on the island.

Sigiriya Village Experience
This Village tour begins with a short walk along to a man-made reservoir. This beautiful village is surrounded by scrub jungle, marshlands, and agricultural farms. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. You will experience a boat ride, bullock cart ride, rural vegetable cultivation and paddy fields.

Dambulla Cave Temple
Dambulla Cave temple is one of the most impressive and well-preserved cave temples in Asia. This complex contains five caves with over 2000 sqm. of painted walls and ceilings. This emphasizes the artistic talents of the people lived in this small island. Due to its artistic & archaeological values, Dambulla Cave temple has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Craft Village in Sigiriya
The handicrafts village in Sigiriya was established in 2003 and it has facilities for maintenance of a number of various fields of handicraft. 48 stalls have been set up in this village for handicraftsmen. If you wish to buy authentic fabrics and other items of Sri Lanka, Step into the village and you will be exposed to various shops selling batiks, brass-works, ornamental pots, handloom textiles, wood carvings and silver jewelry. Shopkeepers let the visitors to witness the craftwork of the craftsmen as well. Nice place to hang out for some time and buy a souvenir for the journey.

Day 8 : Dambulla - Kandy

Spice garden
For centuries, spices have been one of the most celebrated exports in Sri Lanka. They have been used for medicines, cosmetics as well as to flavor foods. History says that the Greeks, Arabs & Malays had linked with Sri Lankan business field through spice trade. Spices provide ground for traditional Ayurveda.

Day 9 : Kandy

Kandy City Tour
Doing a city tour is the most interesting and easiest way to enjoy the sightseeing in the historical city of Kandy. Kandy, also Known as the hill capital or Hill country, is the last stronghold of Sinhalese kings after Portuguese, Dutch and British ruling periods. To the Buddhists of Sri Lanka and the World, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. The Bahirawakanda Buddha stature that is known as big Buddha is one of the most scenic places in the city. This tour covers both these historical temples and reach Kandy Lake. The Kandy Lake that was built by king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807 is one of the major highlights in the city. Doing an upper lake drive by a TukTuk is a scenic and memorable ride. Today Kandy is the center of Buddhism, Arts, Crafts, Dancing, Music and Culture. At the end of the tour you can witness a cultural show in one of the many theaters available in the Kandy city.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden
Located at the edge of Mahaveli river, Peradeniya Royal botanical garden was started as a pleasure garden in the British colonial era. Today it is renowned for bundles of varieties of plants including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. A map is not required, just wander through the paths of green lawns. You will witness the flower arches which are waiting to welcome you. Don’t by-pass the giant Javan tree, which is a nice place to have a sit & take a snap. The suspension bridge is also a highlight in this garden & you can walk on it too.

Day 10 : Kandy- Nuwara Eliya (Approx. 3 hrs drive)

Ramboda Falls
Ramboda waterfall is not a single waterfall and it has two stairs. The upside of the main road of Ramboda place, there is another waterfall. Most of the tourist dismisses the waterfall and they visit upside waterfall and go away. It is 109 m (358 ft.) high and has recommended as the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya.

Tea Factory and Tea Plantation
It is not a secret that Nuwara Eliya is the heart of tea industry, where tea bushes cover rolling hills like soft moss and interspersed with Eucalyptus, Albesia and other trees. Tea pluckers work on the slopes, butterfly-like in their colorful sarees. Tea had been one of the main exports in Sri Lanka for by-gone decades. On your way, you will see acres & acres of greenery, tea plantations all around.

Day 11 : Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya City Tour
The town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. A favorite retreat of the British during colonial times, the town is dotted with English country style houses and half-timbered bungalows. In this city tour, you can visit Victoria Park. It is an attractive and well-used oasis. It is popular with birdwatchers at quieter times because of the good opportunities it gives to see various species, and also you can visit Gregory Lake, which was constructed during the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873, as well as you can visit Golf courses in Nuwara Eliya Town.

Day 12 : Nuwara Eliya

Trekking at Horton Plain
Make a pre-dawn start with a packed breakfast to Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and take a guided walk along the nature trails to a viewpoint known as World’s End. A variety of wildlife including endemic Rhino-horned and Hump-nosed Lizards, highland bird species including the Sri Lanka White-eye, Dull-blue Flycatcher, Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, Yellow-eared Bulbul may be encountered. Also, keep your eye out for troops of Bear Monkey, and Sambar (Sri Lanka’s largest species of deer) which are regularly seen on the plains close to the entrance.

Day 13 : Nuwara Eliya - Ella

Train Journey
The train leaves Kandy railway station at 09:05hrs and arrive Ella railway station at 15:20hrs. The entire journey time will be approximately 6.5 hours. This train journey is the most scenic train journey in Sri Lanka that goes through more natural wonders including waterfalls, tunnels, tea plantation and many more hill country attractions. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from Ella railway station and then transferred to your hotel in Ella for your overnight stay.

Day 14 : Ella

Little Adam’s Peak
Trekking to Little Adam’s Peak is the most famous tourism activity in Ella. As there is a similarity to the peak of the sacred Adams Peak where the foot print of Lord Buddha is preserved, this was named as the Little Adam’s Peak. You will walk through lush green tea plantations, and paddy fields while enjoying the sceneries. Witness the people who are plucking and collecting tea leaves in their estates. After 45-50 minutes easy hike, you will enjoy the panoramic view of the entire southern plain from the summit.

Enjoy Nine Arch Trekking Proceed to Ella railway station where you will start a memorable 15 minutes train ride journey to Demodara railway station. Once you arrive at Demodara railway station you will be guided on a walking trail to 9 arch bridge which is one of the most famous attractions in Ella region. This 99 feet high massive bridge has been built entirely of solid rocks, bricks, and cement without using a single piece of steel. When one stands underneath it and looks up there is a beautiful sight of ‘nine skies’ through the nine arches, hence it is also called as “Nine skies bridge” and “The Bridge in the sky”. Guards allow you to walk along the rails and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding environment. You will be so lucky if you get a chance to see a train traveling over the bridge. Spend 45-60 minutes at 9 arch before staring Tuk-Tuk ride back to your Hotel.

Day 15 : Ella

Rawana Waterfall
Located near the village of Udunuwara in Ella, Rawana Waterfall is a legendary waterfall that goes back to the era of Ramayana. This beautiful waterfall is located just near the Ella – Yala road. Measuring 25 m in height, this cascading waterfall is glorious to watch during the rainy season. It is told that King Ravana, kidnapped princess Sita and kept her hidden in a cave located behind the waterfall.

Day 17 : Yala

Safari at Yala National Park
Half Day Game drive to Yala National Park is a 3 hours game viewing opportunity with Beyond Escapes Safari Team. Yala is home to 44 varieties of mammal and 215 bird species. Among its more famous residents are the world’s biggest concentration of leopards. The leopards are more elusive and primarily nocturnal in other countries but are easier to spot in Sri Lanka than any other place in the world. Elephant, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Hanuman Langur, Toque Monkey, Stripe-necked and Ruddy Mongooses, Wild Boar, Golden Jackal, Land and Water Monitor and Marsh Crocodile can be seeing during your Safari.

Day 18 : Yala-Bentota (Approx. 2 hrs drive)

Galle Dutch Fort
Galle Fort was built by the Portuguese in 1588, and then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work was done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. The heritage value of the fort has been recognized by the UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 19 : Yala-Bentota (Approx. 2 hrs drive)

River Safari at Madu Ganga
Located in Balapitiya, Madu Ganga is famous for its unique mangrove vegetation lines and caves. A relatively unspoiled lagoon, the Madu Ganga estuary is a 915-hectare complex coastal wetland ecosystem that opens to the Indian Ocean. In this boat trip, you can see kraal-fishing constructions and fishermen making their way in rowing boats to collect their day's catch. The occasional blue kingfisher flies near the kraal, a pond heron stands tall in the water and other wetland birds are arisen from their slumber.

Turtle Hatchery
Kosgoda is famous for its sea turtle conservation project operated by the Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1988 to protect Sri Lanka’s turtles from extinction. Since then it has released about 3.5 million baby turtles into the sea. The hatchery pays fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the long sandy beach. The hatchery buries the eggs in the sand, and when they hatch around 50 days later the baby turtles are released into the sea at night.

Day 20 : Bentota
