WILDLIFE TRAIL OF NORTH INDIA

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi

On arrival in Delhi International Airport, you will be met and assisted by representative and transferred to the hotel for check in.
Later in a day, proceed for a tour of Delhi, visiting Old and New Delhi. (Below description is inductive of a city tour. The duration and inclusions can be tailored to meet client specifications and it can be done only if time permits)

Morning full day city tour of New and Old Delhi visiting Qutab Minar - which is the tallest brick minaret in the world, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate – a war memorial which was built to salute the brave Indian soldiers of the British Army who lost their lives in World War 1, Rastrapati Bhawan or the President’s House and the Parliament Street where you can see various government buildings, Raj Ghat the cremation place of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Red Fort, Jama Masjid and the Chandni Chowk.

Day 02 : Delhi - Khajuraho (Fly)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Khajuraho. On arrival, you will be met & transferred to hotel.
The 9th to 12th century temples of Khajuraho is the evidences of the architectural geniuses during the times of Chandela dynasty. Situated in Madhya Pradesh, India, Khajuraho oozes with passion, eroticism, dance and music and other finesses of creative arts depicted in sculpture and images of the temples. The 85 temples were built in North Indian 'Nagara' style of architecture, though only 20 of them have survived the rough weather conditions over long years of time. The two richer distinctive groups of temples are the Western and Eastern group of temples.

Afternoon sightseeing, takes the group to the temples built during the 9th to the 11th centuries by the powerful dynasty of Chandela rajputs. The temples with their erotic sculptures are a feast to the eyes. The Chandelas built 85 temples in all but today only 20 temples stand intact. Visit the eastern and western group of temples. This fascinating Son-et-Lumière spectacle evokes the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and traces the story of the unique temples from the 10th Century to the present day. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 : Khajuraho - BHANDAVGARH (APPROX. 275KMS / 06HRS DRIVE)

After breakfast, drive to Bandavgarh. On arrival check-in at resort. Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the wild life sanctuaries in the Indian state Madhya Pradesh. The national park is situated at 197 km away north-east of Jabalpur. This wild life park derived its very name from an ancient fort in the area. Bandhawgarh National Park belongs to the Vindhyan mountain ranges of central India and it boasts to have the highest density of tiger population in the country. Now there are about 46 to 52 tigers one can spot here.

Once a hunting reserve of the royal family of Rewa in more recent times, Bandhavgarh was declared a park in 1968. This is also the site where the fanmous white Tigers of Rewa were discovered. Wandering through the Bandhavgarh national park on an Elephant Back, the chances of seeing a tiger are quite good. Among the other wild attractions include, Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, Chinkara, Wild Boar and sometimes a Fox or Jackal.

One can enjoy viewing the wildlife by two ways in Bandhavgarh - Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari.. Jeep safaris are undertaken during the early morning hours till evening. A forest department guide is always their with the visitors on these jeep trips taken inside the park. Elephant safari trips are organized for tiger tracking early in the morning.

Day 04 : IN BHANDAVGARH (Morning & Evening Safari drives)

Early morning, drive to the park. Resort will provide packed breakfast to the group. Return to the resort and enjoy a sumptuous lunch. Relax in the sounds, aromas and senses of the neighboring wildlife.
Lunch at the Resort.
Proceed for the afternoon safari. Late evening, return to the resort for high tea.
Dinner & overnight at the Resort.

Day 05 : BANDAVGARH - KANHA (250KMS/05-06HRS)

After breakfast drive to Kanha. On arrival, check-in at resort.

Kanha National Park: Situated in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, the picturesque Kanha National Park was the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's unforgettable classic Jungle Book. The romance of the Kanha National Park has not reduced over time-it is still as beautiful.

The park was created in 1955 by a special law and, since then, it has dedicated itself in preserving a variety of animal species. Many endangered species have indeed been saved here. Today Kanha is among the few most scenic and beautiful wildlife reserves in Asia. This 'Tiger Country' is the ideal home for both predator and prey. By far the most striking features of this region are the open grassy meadows, where sighting blackbuck, swamp deer, sambhar and chital is common. And, if one can transcend into time, a barefooted Mowgli would perhaps come padding along the dusty trail, for this is the land of Kipling's Jungle Book.

Major Wildlife Attractions of Kanha The main wildlife attractions in the park are tiger, bison, gaur, sambhar, chital, more pictures.... barasingha, barking deer, black deer, black buck, chousingha, nilgai, mouse deer, sloth bear, jackal fox, porcupine, hyena, jungle cat, python, pea fowl, hare, monkey, mongoose, tiger, and leopard
The birds species in the park include storks, teals, pintails, pond herons, egrets, peacock, pea fowl, jungle fowl, spur fowl, partridges, quails, ring doves, spotted parakeets, green pigeons, rock pigeons, cuckoos, papihas, rollers, bee-eater, hoopoes, drongos, warblers, kingfishers, woodpeckers, finches, orioles, owls, and fly catchers. Rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner & Overnight at the Resort.

Day 06 : IN KANHA

Early morning, begin the morning safari into the National Park by jeep accompanied by a naturalist.
Return to the resort for breakfast.
• After breakfast, morning at leisure or go bird watching.
• Enjoy a scrumptious Lunch at the resort.
• Evening safaris into the National Park by jeep accompanied by a naturalist.
Overnight at the Lodge.

Day 07 : KANHA ~ PENCH NATIONAL PARK (180km / 03hrs)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Pench National Park.
On arrival, check in at the hotel.
Lunch at the lodge.

Pench: Pench Tiger Reserve, located in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, is the 19th Project Tiger Reserve and has been one of the best-kept secrets among wildlife enthusiasts who have long been acquainted with and bedazzled by its immensely varied flora and fauna. No wonder the area providing a backdrop for it's animal character dominated by fairly open canopy of mixed forest, predominantly teak, with open grassy patches, the park with its undulating land boasts the highest density of herbivores in any Indian park. The population of cheetal, or spotted deer, is particularly high and there is also abundance of sambar and nilgai.

Visitors cannot fail to be amazed by the mighty gaur or Indian bison, which shares its home with such diverse creatures as wild boar, sloth bear, dhole, and mongoose and jungle cat. As its name implies, the park is also home to the illusive Royal Bengal Tiger and the equally shy leopard. The bird life has been described as some of the best in India and among the 250 or so species are Malabar pied hornbills, painted stork, long-tailed shrikes, kingfishers, blue jays and birds of paradise as well as crested serpent eagles, changeable hawk eagles and vultures.
The picturesque Pench River, which winds its way through the park, is a magnet for all birds, particularly during the winter migration when the area teems with visitor including Brahmini ducks and batheaded geese. Lying on the southern slopes of the satpura ranges, the tiger reserve covers just over 757 sq kms and is two hours by road from Nagpur.

Day 08 : PENCH NATIONAL PARK

Early morning, begin the morning safari into the National Park by jeep accompanied by a naturalist. Return to the resort for breakfast.
Safaris in Pench are organized in jeeps and short elephant rides are also available. Local guides and naturalists are at hand to enhance the experience. Have lunch at the lodge. Rest of the day at leisure. Later, proceed for the evening game safaris into the Pench National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 09 : PENCH NATIONAL PARK – NAGPUR AIRPORT (100KM / 2HRS) - MUMBAI

After breakfast, check out and drive to Nagpur airport for your flight to Mumbai. On arrival, you will be met and assisted by our representative and transferred to the hotel for check in.
Mumbai (formerly Bombay) ~ the capital of Maharashtra, is India’s most dynamic, cosmopolitan and most affluent city. It is also home to the world’s biggest cinema industry, popularly known as ‘Bollywood. A city of sparkling contrasts where skyscrapers stand next to stately Victorian buildings, colourful traditional bazaars adjoin glittering modern shopping malls.
Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10 : DEPART MUMBAI

After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed for a short guided tour of Mumbai.
