HORSE SAFARI

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

Arrive Delhi the capital of India. Our representative will welcome you at the airport on arrival with the signboard.

Transfer to hotel where you receive a traditional welcome with Garland and Tilak while the hotel formalities is completed. Rest of the day is at leisure with overnight at hotel.

DELHI: The capital city of modern India has behind it centuries of history, which has enriched its culture. Nowhere has tradition blended with modernity on a scale as evident in Delhi -age-old monuments stand check by jowl with ultra modern hi-rise building

Day 2: Delhi–Udaipur–Chittorgarh–Bijaipur (160 Kms, 03 hrs)

Departure to airport to connect flight for Udaipur

Meeting upon arrival in Udaipur and drive to Chittorgarh, arrive Chittor at Hotel Pratap Palace. Change into your riding gear and afterwards, the Jeeps will transfer you to Nethawal, where the ride begins. You will meet the horses and the Safari Team in the tiny village. After mounting the horses and checking the riding gear, etc. the ride will begin with drumbeats in traditional style.

We will start riding east towards the Vindhayanchal hills. The track we ride today has been used by horsemen for the last four centuries. We will ascend the Chittor Plateau and then ride on to reach Hasla – our lunch spot.

Hasla is an old village and we have lunch on the banks of an old pond at a farmhouse. The owner of the farmhouse will be our host.

After lunch and a little rest we continue riding east. We will cross a couple of valleys and some tribal settlements before the backwater of the Modia Mahadev Dam confronts us. We ride alongside the waters of the Dam and will get to see some good birdlife. We will ride across the village of Semlia and then the Modia Mahadev village. From here we will ride North through the farmlands and some waterholes and reach the village of Bijaipur. We will ride through the old village and market of Bijaipur to enter the 16th century Castle Bijaipur – our night stop. You will be given a Royal Welcome upon reaching the Castle.

The village of Bijaipur and the area around it is famous for Opium cultivation. The area also has some fantastic birdlife.

Lunch Spot :-Hasla – at a farmhouse on the banks of an old pond.

Overnight :-Castle Bijaipur – a Heritage Hotel

Highlight :-We ride on an ancient route used by horsemen.

Day 3: Bijaipur

Today, we will stay the full day at Bijaipur. You will go for rides in the morning and evening. This will help you acclimatise and get friendly to your horses. You also have the option of changing your horse from our stables in the Castle.

Day free to relax, swim or take an ayurvedic massage.

Dinner and overnight at the Castle.

Day 4: Biajaipur – Pangarh

After breakfast, we will ride through the picturesque Vindyachal ranges. We will ride across farmlands in the Bijaipur valley – the area that is famous for its Opium cultivation and cross the farmer’s village – Kotri. We stop over for lunch at Rawat-ka-taalab.

Rawat-ka-taalab is a small lake surrounded by hills. The lunch will be served by our safari team under a Shamiyana (traditional Indian camping tent).

After lunch, we will ride through the small settlement of Rawat-ka-Talaab. From hereon, the ride passes through forest and wood and will take us to the 1000 year old Pangarh Fort. We will ride down from the fort along the beautiful Lotus Lake to reach ‘The Pangarh Lake Retreat’ our night stop.

The Reatreat at Pangarh is located on edge of the Lake and is owned by the Castle Bijaipur Family. You can see people of the fisherman tribe spear-fishing in the lake, using canoe boats.

Overnight :- The Pangarh Lake Retreat – a Luxury Tent Hotel

Highlight :- Ride through the 1000 year old Pangarh Fort

Day 5: Pangarh – Athana

After breakfast, we ride out on a challenging and spectacular ride through high hills which are covered with rich vegetation. We will ride across the Palcha valley through fertile farmlands. Continue the ride through the villages of Farmers and Gypsies to reach Saroda where we will stop for lunch.

Saroda is a small village and we will have lunch at a farmers well. The lunch will be served by our safari team.

After lunch and a little rest, we will ride south and ascend the high hill separating us from our night stop. Once upon the hill, the terrain is flat and rich with vegetation and wildlife. We might spot blue bulls, jackals, fox, pea foul and partridges. We will again descend it to leave the Vindhyanchal hills and enter the flatland of Malwa (Central India). After riding for about four km, we will reach the village of Athana.

Our overnight accommodation here will prove to be a real highlight as we find ourselves guests of the Ruler and his wife in their ancient fortress home; for this fort has not been turned into a lavish hotel but is as it was years ago and is like wandering round in an old world.

Lunch Spot :- Saroda – farmer’s well.

Overnight :- Athana – guests of the Royal Family.

Highlight :- Riding across the last highland of the Vindhyanchal Hills

Day 6: Athana – Choti Sadri

We leave Athana at 06:30 in the morning as today’s ride is the longest one. Leaving Athana, we ride across the rich farmlands of Malwa. Todays’s terrain is flat except a few patches. We will ride through seven villages before reaching Darru – to stop for lunch.

Our Safari team will await us at the farmland of the old landlord.

After lunch, we continue riding South-west through a little uneven terrain. We cross farmlands and four more villages to reach Choti Sadri.

Choti Sadri is a well-known Hindu pilgrimage spot.

Overnight at an elaborate farmhouse perched on a hill above the town.

Direction:- South-West

Lunch Spot:- Darru – Old landlord’s farm.

Overnight:- Choti Sadri – Farmhouse of a local businessman.

Highlight:- Longest riding day of the tour

Day 7: Choti Sadri – Sita Mata

Mount the horses after breakfast and ride towards the Sitamata wildlife sanctuary. Riding across a little hilly terrain, we will cross the Bhanwar Mata Temple – a famous pilgrim spot of the local tribes. From here we will ride through scarce forest. We will pass some tribal settlements to reach our lunch spot of the day – Mama Mahadev.

Mama Mahadev is an old Shiva Temple worshipped by the tribal people of this area.

Our ride after lunch will take us into the protected forest of the Sitamata Sanctuary. We will cross three hills and thick forest at some places to reach the tribal village of Keli.

From Keli, we will ride north for about five kilometres through dense forest to reach the Camp where we will put up for the night.

Our Safari team will have setup a tented accommodation of traditional Indian Hunting Tents for us. The site where the tents are pitched is very serene and quiet. There are streams of hot and cold water that flow throughout the year. You can see many different species of spiders here. The forest is very dense.

Lunch Spot:- Mama Mahadev – Old Shiva Temple.

Overnight:- Sitamata – In Traditional style hunting tents.

Highlight:- Riding through the densely forested hills of Sitamata

Day 8: Sita Mata

Today will be a rest day in the camp. We will go trekking to the Sitamata Temple located on top of the hill. In the evening, we will jungle-walk searching for the Coloured Jungle Fowl and various spiders.

We will have a campfire and bar-be-que dinner at the camp. 

Day 9: Sita Mata – Dhariyawad

After breakfast we ride on the last patch we did the previous evening. Reaching Keli we ride west through forest and hills. We will ride through a narrow and deep valley, along and in the waters flowing through the valley. We will cross the village of Ranna – a settlement of the Bheel tribe. We ride through the forest for about five kilometres to reach our lunch spot – Khantaria.

Our safari team will meet us with lunch ready near a stream flowing through rocks.

After lunch we ride through the forest for about five kilometres to exit the gates of the protected forest. As we exit the gate we will cross a small river and ride through Chittoria village. From here we will ride across farmlands to reach the Shikarbari (hunting grounds) of the rulers of Dhariyawad.

We will leave our horses here and drive in Jeeps to the Fort of Dhariyawad which is a five minute drive away. We will be welcomed at the Dhariyawad Fort where we will be staying for the night. The Royal Family owns and manages the hotel in the fort.

Overnight :- Fort Dhariyawad – Heritage hotel.

Highlight :- Riding through the densely forested hills of Sitamata

Day 10: Dhariyawad – Arampura – Dhariyawad     

We will leave Dhariyawad after breakfast. We mount our horses at the hikarbari to ride towards the western side of the Sitamata Hills. We will ride through farmlands and settlements to enter the forest. We will ride in the forest through some beautiful areas for to reach our lunch spot - Arampura.

Amarpura is a forest check post and is famous as there are flying squirrels around this place. If lucky we might spot some. Lunch today will be organised by the Dhariwad Hotel team.

Here we will say goodbye to the horses and drive in Jeeps to Dhariyawad. We will explore the tribal market of Dhariyawad in the evening. Interested people can also visit the surrounding tribal villages in Jeeps.

Day 11: Dhariyawad – Devigarh

After breakfast drive to Devigarh, on arrival check into Devigarh.

Devi Garh - nestled in the Aravali hills, the 18th century Devi Garh palace in the village of Delwara, is an all suite luxury hotel comprising 39 suites with an emphasis on contemporary design and detail, using local marbles and semi-precious stones. The signature suite –The Devi Garh Suite, has a private swimming pool. Day 12: Devigarh

Full day free at Leisure.

Morning at leisure at the resort to enjoy the Serene Spa or explore the Delware village. 

Situated at the foot of the Devi Garh fort is the Delware village, which belonged to the kingdom of mewar unit 1947, as part of the feudal estate of the house of Delwara. The history of this region, known for its rich culture, chivalry, and martial valour, is also privy to a tradition of constructive and educational work

Day 13: Devigarh

Full day free at Leisure.

Optional: A Visit to Dilwara Village, Devi Garh (Udaipur)

Devigarh is one of the most interesting secret that has emerged from the rubble of the crumbling Rajasthani palaces in over ten years... you may have seen many heritage forts and palaces but this place has some kind of spell. From camel's back safari  to learning many different things - from pottering around, testing your clay skills with hari kaka, the local potter in the village to even flying a kite to bicycle safari to near by village.

While enjoying the scenic beauty of the place, visit the 14th century Jain temples. A walking tour of the Delwara village is indeed a rich learning experience. Here you can see harmony between various communities. Devigarh offers excellent opportunity for outdoor activities such as camel/horse safari and trekking. There is a small but charming lake of Bapparawal located 3 km away from Delwara. Ride a camel or horse to the lake and let loose yourself to the scenic beauty of the surrounding.

Day 14: Devigarh – Udaipur – Delhi by flight

Morning at Leisure.

Afternoon drive to Udaipur airport to connect flight for Delhi

Meeting upon arrival and transfer to international airport to connect flight for onward destination.

Day 15: Leave Delhi
