Heritage Tour of Karnataka

Day 1 : Arrive Bangalore

Arrive in Bangalore in the morning. Meet and assisted by representative and transferred to the hotel for check in. Later you will proceed in the afternoon for Bangalore sightseeing, the ‘City of Gardens’. Start off with Vidhana Soudha ~ This splendid neo-Dravidian granite building which dominates the northern boundary of the Cubbon Park, is the home of the State Legislature and the Secretariat. Cubbon Park ~ Situated in the heart of the Bangalore city, the park was laid by Lord Cubbon in the year 1864. Also inside Cubbon Park is the state library. The Bull Temple ~ The Bull Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva/’s Vahana (vehicle), Nandi the bull. Lal Bagh ~ A 240 acres of botanical garden of beautifully sculpted gardens, flowers abound, which houses over 1000 species of flora which include rare and enchanting collection of tropical plants, trees and herbs. Visit the Glass House at Lal Bagh (built on the lines of London's Crystal Palace) covers 18000sq feet. ISKCON temple - the Krishna Temple is a blend of Modern technology and spiritual harmony, later on return to hotel and overnight.

Day 2 : Mysore

In the morning after breakfast, proceed for a drive to Mysore. Mysore- Known for its magnificent palaces and majestic buildings, sprawling gardens and tree lined boulevards, shimmering silks and sandalwood, the ‘City Royale’ always figures in the tourist’s itinerary. On arrival in Mysore check into a hotel and visit the Maharaja Palace, built in 1911-12 by Wodeyar Rulers, the palace is a splendid structure in the Indo-Saracenic Style, among its many attractions are a magnificent gold throne displayed during the Dassara celebrations. It is an entirely modern structure continuing the Hindu and Saracenic styles of Architecture. Later visit Chamundi Hill - perched a top a hill-the 4.8m tall monolith of Nandi and the gigantic Mahishasura statue are added attractions. Return to hotel and overnight.

Day 3 : Coorg

In the morning after breakfast, checkout and proceed to Coorg - Few other places in the world are blessed with such natural beauty and fertility: Misty mountains, Myriad streams and waterfalls, Thick tropical forests, coffee plantations etc. Coorg also called as “Scotland of South India” is a beautiful place. On arrival check in to hotel and visit nearby places. The main attractions of Madikeri district are the Madikeri Fort, Raja’s seat, Raja’s Tomb and Abey Water Falls. After visiting the places have a relaxed day in the beautiful surroundings and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 4 : Hassan

In the morning, after breakfast, check out and proceed to Hassan, enroute visit Shravanabelagola - The monolithic statue of Lord Gomateshwara, a Jain saint and an object of worship for centuries, standing atop one of the hills. On arrival check into a hotel. After lunch visit Belur - The most photographed and perhaps the best and they are a must on every tourist's temple itinerary, Halebid - the temple known for Hoysala architecture, perched on a star-shaped base amidst lawns, is a sculptural extravaganza temple. Overnight at the hotel. Hassan is known as the architecture capital of Karnataka state. Visit the Hasanamba Temple which opens once in a year for a week before Diwali and closes on very next day but attracts many thousands of devotee from around the country. Shravanabelagola which lies 51 kms South-east from Hassan is a 1000 year old and 17meter high monolith of Lord Bahubali.

Day 5 : Hampi

Morning breakfast, proceed for a full day sightseeing, visit to King’s Palace - This is the largest enclosure, including two major platform structures, an underground chamber which must have served as a treasury or private audience hall, Mahanavami Dibba - Equally impressive is the massive Mahanavami Dibba, where the kings once sat on gem-studded golden thrones and watched processions pass by. Queen’s Bath - This structure has a very plain exterior but the interior is stunningly ornate, with graceful arched corridors, projecting balconies and lotus-shaped fountains that used to spout perfumed water for the ladies of the court. Return to hotel and overnight. Morning breakfast and full day sight seeing, visit to Lotus Mahal - This visually appealing structure has two levels, with open pavilions at the bottom and balconies above. An elegant example of the fusion of the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture, Elephant Stables - An imposing edifice with arched entrances and many domes that once housed the magnificent state elephants. Pushkarni - This stepped water tank, excavated in the mid-1980s, was originally a part of the palace complex, Hazara Rama Temple - This was a royal temple reserved for ceremonial use. The entire temple is embellished with bas-relief’s depicting scenes from the epic 'Ramayana'. Return to hotel and Overnight.

Day 6 : Badami

In the morning, drive to Badami, the capital city of Chalukya Empire in India who ruled between 4th and 8th century. Like Aihole and Pattadakal, Badami is also a finest example of Dravidian architecture and rock cut caves. Chalukyas used Badami as their capital from 540 to 747 AD. After sightseeing tour of Badami, check into the hotel. Visit Badami Caves – Picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rocky hills, the exquisite sculptures and the rust red sandstone cliffs of Badami tell many a tale of yore, North Fort - This is the largest enclosure, including two major platform structures, an underground chamber which must have served as a treasury or private audience hall, several other platforms, Banashankari - is a quaint hamlet taking its name from the goddess Banashankari. Built in the Dravidian style, the temple is dedicated to Banashankari, a form of Parvati. Also visit Bhutanatha Temple . Afternoon sightseeing of Aihole & Pattadackal, famous as the ‘Cradle of Indian Temple Architecture’.

Day 7 : Badami - Goa

Today proceed for a drive from Badami to Goa. On your arrival at Goa, you will be met by our Representative. At the airport there will be a welcome ceremony and later you will get transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure, you can also avail of the spa and ayurvedic massages provided by the hotel (on payment basis). Day 8 – Goa Spend the rest of the day at leisure at the beaches of Goa Day 9 – Depart Goa After breakfast at the hotel, its time to pack your bags and head to the Airport for your onward journey
