GOURMET TOUR OF SOUTH INDIA

Day 01 : Arrive Hyderabad

Meet and assist upon arrival and transfer to the hotel. Check in at the hotel. . Hyderabad. The capital is well known for its Nawabi cuisine like Biryani and Kababs and fiery hot chilies. For visitors it is a veritable paradise, with lovely museums, one of the largest zoos in India and the impressive Golconda Fort. Overnight in Hyderabad.

Day 02 : In Hyderabad

Morning City tour of Hyderabad covering the Charminar, Birla temple & Salarjung museum. HYDERABADI CUISINE is a princely legacy of the Nizams, and is a blend of Mughlai and Persian cuisines. The use of ingredients is carefully chosen and cooked to the right degree and time. A cooking demonstration with local chef cooking authentic Hyderabadi Biryani, followed by lunch. In the evening you will return to the fort to see a Sound and Light Show. Overnight in Hyderabad.

Day 03 : Hyderabad - Chennai

Morning, check out and transfer to the airport for your flight to Chennai. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Chennai - Among the principal sights are the Fort Saint George, The Marina Beach, and the Snake Park at Guindy. Evening dinner at the Rain Tree Restaurant at the Taj Connemara Hotel including a live Classical Dance performance. Overnight in Chennai.

Day 04 : In Chennai

Full day excursion to Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram. Mahabalipuram is a quite seaside resort with a unique and glorious 7th century Shore Temple and some of the most beautiful rock-cut caves in the world. Kanchipuram has been a center of Tamil learning, cultural and religious background for centuries. Kanchipuramhas magnificent temples of unique architectural beauty bearing eloquent testimony to its glorious Dravidian heritage. Overnight in Chennai.

Day 05 : Chennai - Kochi (Cochin)

Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Kochi (formerly Cochin) in the state of Kerala. Upon arrival transfer and check in to the hotel. Day free at leisure. After lunch you will be taken on a a harbour cruise around the fascinating port of Cochin. This evening you will attend a cooking demonstration by a chef of typical Kerala Malabar Cuisine, followed by dinner. Overnight in Cochin.

Day 06 : In Cochin

Morning sightseeing tour of Cochin- an important port city with a famous Jewish settlement and Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, the Chinese Nets, the Church of Saint Francis and the Tomb of Vasco da Gama. In the afternoon attend a cooking demonstration by a chef of typical Kerala Malabar seafood cuisine. In the evening you will be taken to see a traditional Kathakali Dance Drama performance at one of the auditoriums. Overnight in Cochin.

Day 07 : Cochin - Periyar

Drive to Periyar and on arrival check-in at the resort. Periyar Sanctuary was the earliest sanctuary to be set up in India in 1934. Amongst the animals to be seen here are wild elephants, which can be seen and photographed at close quarters, wild boar, sambar, tier, leopard, wild dog and languor monkeys. Overnight in Periyar.

Day 08 :  In Periyar

Early morning visit to the park by boat on man-made Periyar Lake. In the afternoon you will see a cooking demonstration by a chef of typical Spice Route cuisine. Overnight in Periyar.

Day 09 : Periyar - Alleppey

Drive to Alleppey Jetty to board a Houseboat for your Backwaters Cruise. Some of the most scenic backwaters of Kerala are to be seen near Alleppey. Evening cooking demonstration by your houseboat cook. Overnight on board the House Boat.

Day 10 :  In Kumarakom

Arrive Kumarakom and check in at the resort. Kumarakom a unique backwater destination situated on the banks of the Vembanadu Lake, is considered the gateway to the backwaters of Kuttanad. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a favourite haunt of migratory birds from across the world, which makes it a renowned bird watching centre. Overnight in Kumarakom.

Day 11 :  In Kumarakom

Day free for independent activities. Optional sunrise and sunset boat cruise on the backwaters or get a rejuvenation Ayurveda massage at the Ayurveda center of the resort. Overnight in Kumarakom.

Day 12 :  Kumarakom - Kochi - Goa

Morning transfer from the resort to Cochin airport for flight to Goa. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure to explore golden sandy beaches of Goa. Overnight in Goa.

Day 13 : In Goa

Morning city tour of Goa visiting the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Saint Cathedral, and the Church of Saint. Francis of Assisi, Saint Cajetan Church, built in the style of St. Peters Basilican in Rome & the Church of Rosary & Nunnery of Saint Monica. Afternoon cooking demonstration by a chef of typical Goan Cuisine. Overnight in Goa.

Day 14 :  In Goa

Full day free at leisure to explore the vibrant beaches of Goa. Overnight in Goa.

Day 15 :  Goa - Mumbai

Morning transfer to the airport to board your flight to Mumbai. Upon arrival transfer and check in to the hotel In the afternoon take a City Tour of Mumba, i visiting the Malabar Hills offering fine views of the Marine Lines and Chowpatty Beach, Kamla Nehru Park and Marine Drive. Overnight in Mumbai.

Day 16 :  Depart Mumbai

Morning proceed for an excursion to Elephanta Caves - from the Gateway of India take a motor launch to see the 7th century sculptures of manifestations of Shiva. Later drive to Rajyog Restaurant in Bandra for a cooking demonstration. Attend a cooking session (1500 to 1830 hrs) demonstrated by a chef of authentic Maharashtrian Cuisine. After the session have an early dinner at the restaurant and drive back to your hotel before transferring to the airport to board your flight home.
